Fraction 1 - Take the top number, divide it by the bottom number
This is a line out of Mr Duey's rap - if you don't remember it, have another listen on the Home page.
Task 1 - Create a new file on Notability called "Fractions". This is where you are going to record all your learning this week.
When we talk about fractions, we a talking about DIVISION, sharing parts, making equal bits.
Fractions almost look like a division sign:
Task 2 - Make a list of as many "fractions" words as you can think of in one minute. Write the heading "Fractions Vocabulary" in your Notability file. Use this timer to time yourself:
Ready? Go!
Sorry - the timer only works when you are on a computer, not an iPad.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So, now we have a bank of words about fractions. We'll be using them this week. Have a check with AT LEAST 2 other people to see what words you have in common and what words you might have missed out.

If you don't have the words numerator, denominator and vinculum on your vocabulary list, better put them there now.
Task 3 - Unit Fractions
Any fraction with the number 1 on the top (the numerator) is called a "unit fraction".
Using two pieces of differently coloured A4 paper, make rectangles that represent 3 different "unit fractions". You might choose 1/2, 1/10 and 1/4...but the choice is yours!

Well, that just about wraps it up for today. If you are looking for some more Fractions things to explore, go back to the Home page and investigate the "Games" button.
Have fun!
